Peter Bankhead is a Reader at the University of Edinburgh. His research aims to develop practical algorithms and open-source software to help analyze complex biological and biomedical images, with a special focus on fluorescence microscopy and digital pathology. He wrote a popular bioimage analysis handbook and created the QuPath software, which he further develops with his research group.

Interacting with big images: Lessons (still being) learned with QuPath

February 18, 2025

Virtual

QuPath is open-source software that started out with the goal of making whole slide image analysis more accessible, intuitive and reproducible. Despite difficult beginnings, QuPath is now widely used, with more than 150,000 downloads of the latest release and over 1,300 citations in 2024 alone. This talk will introduce QuPath’s latest features, including support for multiplexed images. It will also discuss some of the challenges around balancing flexibility and user-experience, while trying to improve software for everyone

VUES is organized by the HIDIVE Lab @ Harvard Medical School with support of the NIH Human BioMolecular Atlas Program (OT2 OD033758)
